The child is allergic to nuts, I would like to know if it is possible to get some guidance on the possible use of your products.

We cannot exclude and differentiate food allergies from dermatological allergies. In general if your type of allergy is considerable, you should try it on a small area and see the effects. In Linea MammaBaby® products, only almond oil is among the nuts.
Below is the list of nuts considered allergenic: almonds (Amygdalus communis L.), hazelnuts (Corylus avellana), walnuts (Juglans regia), cashew nuts (Anacardium occidentale), pecans [Carya illinoinensis (Wangenh.) K. Koch], Brazil nuts (Bertholletia excelsa), pistachio nuts (Pistacia vera), macadamia nuts or Queensland walnuts (Macadamia ternifolia), and their products, except for nuts used in the manufacture of alcoholic distillates, including ethyl alcohol of agricultural origin.

I have a food allergy, I would like to know if your products contain the ingredients listed below, Eggs, Dairy, Nuts, Sesame?

All MammaBaby® Line products are manufactured according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) ISO 22716. All production lines are subject to validation of Cleaning procedures (CLEANING VALIDATION). This consists of producing documented evidence that a specific cleaning procedure reproducibly and effectively removes the product and cleaning agents used to clean the equipment/production line below the maximum allowable residue level that has been scientifically established.

The validation was conducted on a complex risk assessment, which in any case does not directly evaluate known allergens in the food chain.
However, no eggs, dairy, nuts, or sesame are present in Linea MammaBaby® products, as indicated in the INCI ingredient list.

For people with severe allergies, it is always advisable to test a small amount of the product on a small area of skin beforehand.

Where can I access the INCI list of your products?

The list of ingredients of our products can be viewed on our website on the pages dedicated to each product.

Do MammaBaby® Line products contain preservatives, particularly Kathon, or fragrances?

Our products contain no Kathon and, more generally, no chemical preservatives of any kind.

Natural preservatives are contained in our products, such as in Sos Baby Cream, a 100 percent natural product with an INCI of only 3 ingredients, of which Tocopherol (vitamin E) serves as a natural preservative.

Regarding fragrances, these are contained in some of our products, such as those for cleansing, where natural fragrances, approved by the ICEA/COSMOS certifying body, whose allergens are declared on the label (Limonene for example) are present.
In the rest of the products, however, the fragrance contained is hypoallergenic or not present.

What are the differences between Rubina Body Cream and Baby Guendalina Sweet Almond Oil?

Both have the function of moisturizing and softening the skin and can also be nourishing and soothing. The main difference is the oil-liquid ratio. Oil contains no water or liquid additives. It needs some time to be absorbed without leaving an oily feeling. Cream is a combination of oils and liquid. It has a fuller texture, as if it were a soft butter. It absorbs faster than oil, but its moisturizing properties last longer than traditional lotions. The cream has a delicate fragrance and contains a valuable element, namely rice bran oil, which gives radiance and hydration.

FAQ – The moment of cleansing

I have been using your rice starch for some time now, half a packet per bath, is it normal that once the water is removed from the tub it remains as some salt/sand in large quantities on the bottom?

There is nothing to worry about! The residue that settles to the bottom of the tank is simply some of the rice starch in the sachet. This phenomenon occurs because starch dissolves easily in hot water; however, as the water temperature decreases, a small amount may settle to the bottom, being a natural characteristic of the raw material.

What is the difference between Baby Shower Shampoo and Cosmos Natural Baby Bath?

Both products are specifically for cleansing, dermatologically tested on sensitive skin and evaluated under pediatric supervision. The difference is that Cosmos Natural Baby Bath is dedicated to cleansing the body, while Baby Shower Shampoo is designed for both body and hair cleansing.

What are the differences between Baby No Tears Shampoo and Cosmos Natural Baby Shower Shampoo ?

The Baby No Tears Shampoo and the Baby Cosmos Natural Shower Shampoo are two different products.
The Baby Cosmos Natural Shower Shampoo cleanses the entire body from head to toe with its handy dispenser, a product suitable from birth that respects the delicate skin and scalp of newborns, evaluated under pediatric control.

FAQ – Infant Massage

Why is it important to devote time to baby massage?

Neonatal massage is a unique and exclusive moment between the parent and the baby, which stimulates the senses and gives a deep sense of fulfillment, helping relaxation before bedtime or providing relief in case of minor ailments, such as those related to colic.
This is a true ritual that is the child of an ancient tradition for which there are specific courses: it is not simply a matter of learning techniques but of learning a new channel for strengthening the relationship with our baby. Neonatal massage also involves a positive effect on the development and maturation of the baby on a physical, psychological and emotional level.

Massage is a game, a way of being together that is good for the child: the way he reacts, the way he responds to our caresses helps us understand him and ourselves better. It is essential to remember that massage is not for the child but with, only in this way are all the actors an active part and this is how this deep communication starts.

Which product from Linea MammaBaby® can be used to massage the baby?

Sweet Almond oil is perfect for massaging your baby.
A.I.M.I., Italian Association of Infant Massage, runs courses to teach basic massage technique and recommends the use of oil to aid massage.The main benefit of oil is to facilitate the movement of the hands over the baby’s skin. A.I.M.I. experts recommend using natural fragrance-free oil, rather than oils marketed as “baby oils.” Linea MammaBaby® is the official supplier of Sweet Almond Oil for A.I.M.I., a cold-pressed oil from almonds with no added chemical additives, a gentle, light, fragrance-free oil that retains the natural vitamin E content that contributes to healthier skin.
Smell is a key component in the development of attachment bonding, and the olfactory system develops as early as 17 weeks of gestation. Therefore it is considered an important function for the newborn, because as early as birth it helps the baby to perceive chemical signals from the mother. It often happens that we “assault” the baby’s sense of smell with odors and scents that risk inhibiting this form of bonding, which is why a natural odor-free oil, such as our Baby Sweet Almond Oil, should be preferred.

For more details on newborn massage read our blog at the following link: https://www.lineamammababy.net/i-benefici-del-massaggio-neonatale/.

How do you massage the newborn's skin?

The massage begins with the parents sitting in a circle, on the floor, on a mat, with their baby resting on comfortable cushions in front of them.
The parents bathe their hands with almond oil, then rub their hands in front of the baby’s face, who will thus learn to recognize this gesture, as the beginning of the massage, and finally, looking into the eyes, they are asked for permission to massage the baby. From the perspective of reading the signals, a child, even a very small one, has a thousand ways to show whether he wants to be massaged or if he prefers to stop, and this for us is a great show of respect.
Massaging a child has four basic benefits: stimulation, relaxation, relief and interaction. It is stimulating, so it goes to act somewhat on all the systems of the body such as cardiovascular, respiratory or gastrointestinal. It has a relaxing effect, in that it facilitates access to sleep, calms the baby and regularizes its sleep-wake and circadian rhythms; it provides relief, because by activating endorphins it relieves the pains of bellyache or teething. At the same time, parents activate beneficial hormones such as oxytocin that go to reduce stress. Finally, the process of interaction is fostered through the exchange of affective messages both verbal and nonverbal, while through observation, patience and attention help parents to understand the baby and the baby to feel loved and pampered.

How much product is enough to massage the child?

To pamper your baby with a soothing massage, just a small amount of Cosmos Natural Baby Almond Oil. This rich, enveloping oil is perfect for nourishing her delicate skin. If needed, you can add a few extra drops to make sure your baby’s skin stays soft and moisturized at all times. Turn every massage into a special moment of tenderness and well-being.

Is Baby Cosmos Natural Sweet Almond Oil edible? What happens if the baby licks or swallows it?

Baby Cosmos Natural Sweet Almond Oil is derived exclusively from the cold pressing of almonds so it is a natural, safe, non-toxic product that can be ingested by the newborn: since it is odorless, it can be applied to encourage breastfeeding without any contraindications.

FAQ – Intimate cleansing

What are the differences between Cosmos Natural and Intimate Baby Cleanser?

The main differences between Bertino’s Cosmos Natural Baby Cosmos Intimate Cleanser and Baby Elenina Intimate Cleanser is mainly in texture and format and certifications. Both products are suitable from birth, respect the physiological pH of baby skin and are dermatologically tested on sensitive skin. Bertino is Cosmos Natural certified and is evaluated under pediatric supervision, suitable for 0+. It is sold in 250 ml format with dispenser and is perfect for diaper change time. Ladybug Elenina, on the other hand, is made in the 150 ml aerosol spray format and is an enveloping mousse.

For the very first months, we recommend approaching intimate cleansing with Bertino and then switching to Elenina when the child is older so that cleansing, thanks to the texture of the mousse, becomes a time of play and fun.

What are the differences between Underwear Baby and Underwear Mom?

In Mommy Intimate the pH varies between 4.5 to 5.5, while in Baby Intimate the pH is neutral.
Also remember that it is not a good practice for children to use the same intimate cleanser as mothers. Proper intimate hygiene is fodnamental at any age so as not to run into unpleasant discomfort or disease. it is important to know that vaginal ph changes with growth and therefore it is necessary to choose an age-appropriate intimate cleanser.
The main difference is the pH, during puberty and menopause,as there is no estrogen, the pH becomes almost neutral (around 7) so an acidic cleanser may cause irritation and it is better to prefer a mild cleanser (Intimo Baby).
In childbearing age, estrogen promotes the growth of Doderlein’s lactobacilli, which produce lactic acid that makes the environment very acidic with a pH around 5.5 so an acidic cleanser should be used, and during pregnancy the pH may drop further (Intimate Mommy).

FAQ – Cleansing without rinsing.

Can I clean baby's eyes with Baby Wipes?

Baby Wipes can be used from birth, are dermatologically tested on sensitive skin with extracts from organic farming, alcohol-free and with physiological pH, ideal for gently cleansing baby’s skin, at diaper change or at any time of the day. They can be used on the face but not to clean baby’s eyes. In this case it would be better to use water-soaked gauze or specific eye wipes.

FAQ – Skin protection from the sun

How to choose the right sunscreen?

Children’s delicate skin deserves special sun protection! Choose products with SPF 50 or SPF 50+, specially formulated for their protection. Make sure the sunscreen is highly tolerated and dermatologically tested on sensitive skin with effective and safe UVA and UVB sunscreens. For effective protection even while playing, choose a water- and sand-resistant cream… Finally, choose between spray or cream according to your preferences for easy application.

Thus, your little ones’ skin will be protected and ready to safely explore the world under the sun.

Are the sun filters in Sole Baby SPF50+ and SOLE MAMMA SPF 30 chemical or physical?

The filters we use for our sunscreens are second-generation filters, that is, filters that comply with the Hawaii Treaty. We have chosen to use Eco Reef Filters because:
– They have the same effect as physical sunscreens;
– They have the same guarantees of skin health and sun protection as physical filters;
– They do not leave the unpleasant white patina typical of physical filters;
– We consider them more effective, safe and controlled than physical filters for protecting children’s skin;
– They do not harm the delicate ecosystem of the oceans.

They were chosen because they are friendly to the seas and marine life and are free of nanofilters, silicones, PEGs, alcohol and benzophenone.

The sunscreens contain these ingredients: OCTOCRYLENE, BUTYLMETHOXYDIBENZOYLMETHANE, 7,BIS-ETHYLHEXYLOXYPHENOL METHOXYPHENYL TRIAZINE. These ingredients are classified as chemical. Are they present in minimal amounts such that the product can be considered 100% natural?

No, we cannot say that LineaMammaBaby’s sunscreens are 100% natural, but we would like to clarify that natural does not necessarily mean better, especially when it comes to protecting us from the sun’s rays. We would like to emphasize that the strengths to promote our sunscreens are:
1. The formula is mainly based on water, in fact, its composition does not contain petrolatum or paraffins, it is also paraben-free;
2. Transparent emulsion with soft texture;
3. Rapid absorption;
4. Dermatologically tested on sensitive skin, especially for delicate and fair skin of children;
5. Provides broad spectrum protection from UVA and UVB radiation, offering effective and safe protection;
6. Water-resistant, the following filters have water-repellent properties, ideal for allowing children to have a pleasant day in spieggia;
7. Dye-free;
8. Each production batch is tested for Nickel, Chromium, Cobalt;
9. Thanks to the innovative Bag on Valve dispensing system, dispensing takes place 360° without interruption, in all positions. The system protects the product from external contamination, ensuring its stability and integrity.

What does the acronym SPF stand for?

The sun protection factor (indicated on the label by the words SPF) indicates the product’s ability to filter UVB rays. An SPF 50 will allow no more than 1/50th of the sun’s rays, or 2%, to pass through, blocking 98% of them. An SPF 30 will not allow 1/30 of the sun’s rays to pass through, thus blocking 97% of them. For a product to be defined as a sunscreen product, it must also provide sufficient protection from UVA rays, equivalent to 1/3 of the SPF on the label: these products can be recognized by a special circle containing the initials “UVA” on the packaging. As does Linea MammaBaby®!

What is the difference between UVA and UVB rays?

The main differences between UVA and UVB can be summarized as follows:
– UVA is present year-round because it is not filtered by clouds;
– UVB is more intense and dangerous in summer;
– UVA penetrates deeper into the epidermis reaching the dermis;
– UVB can be filtered by glass and sunscreen products;
– UVA is responsible for skin aging;
– UVB is responsible for tanning (or sunburn).

Sunscreens can be used for children from what age?

MammaBaby® Line sunscreens are dermatologically tested on sensitive skin. Our products can be used from the first months of life, but we must follow the suggestions of the Ministry of Health:
– Avoid excessive exposure and sunburn, especially during childhood and adolescence;
– Children up to 12 months should not be exposed directly to sunlight;
– Avoid exposure to the sun between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.;
– Wear protective clothing: hat, long-sleeved shirt, short-sleeved shirt and sunglasses;
– Protect yourself in the shade naturally (trees) or by using umbrellas, etc.;
– Use sunscreens with protection factors appropriate to your skin type;
– Sunscreens should be applied appropriately several times a day, even after swimming.

Remember: in the mountains the sun is closer, so you should protect yourself. Cloudy skies still allow radiation to pass through; sand and water, on the other hand, reflect the sun’s rays.

What sun factor should be used for baby's skin?

Here are some simple rules to follow to ensure that your little ones can enjoy the sun safely by using the right sunscreens.

For infants under the age of six months, the sun is absolutely forbidden. Their skin is too fragile, so it is best to avoid any exposure, even in the city.

When children are over six months and up to three years old, they can begin to explore the world in the sun, but with proper precautions. It is essential to use products with very high protection and an SPF factor of 50+. These creams should be accompanied by clothing made of protective fabrics and sunglasses.

Beyond the age of three, sun protection becomes even more personalized. It is important to consider the child’s phototype, but in general, it is best not to go below an SPF 30 to ensure adequate protection.

And let’s not forget a golden rule: always use photoprotection, even when taking a walk around town. Even on cloudy days or when the sun seems less intense, UV rays can still cause skin damage.

Can I use adult sunscreen on children?

The sunscreen used by adults is not suitable for the skin of infants. To protect your baby, you need to opt for a baby-specific formula, a product tested to be safe and gentle on their sensitive skin. There are some key features to consider when choosing the right sunscreen:

1. High and broad-spectrum protection: it is advisable to opt for a cream with a high sun protection factor (SPF), preferably SPF 50 or 50+;

2. Water resistance;

3. Formula tested under pediatric supervision;

4. Alcohol-, fragrance- and silicone-free formula: again because of the extreme delicacy of children’s skin, it is best to avoid products with potentially irritating substances, such as alcohol, artificial fragrances and silicones.

Why is it important to apply sunscreen some time before sun exposure?

Applying sunscreen 15-30 minutes before going out in the sun is important to enjoy the sun safely. This is because this gives your skin time to fully absorb it and allow you a safe defense against UV rays. For chemical filters, this time is essential for them to bind to your skin and start working. These filters work by absorbing UV rays and turning them into heat, which is then released by the skin. If the cream does not have time to absorb properly, the protection may not be effective, leaving the skin vulnerable.

Physical filters, which work by reflecting UV rays, also benefit from some time to settle on the skin and create an even barrier. By applying the cream calmly before going out, you avoid accidentally removing it as you prepare, ensuring that it remains intact and ready to protect you.

What does EcoReef Filters mean?

Our filters are ECO REEF because they are free of substances considered harmful to corals and the marine ecosystem.
They do not contain: Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, Octocrylene, benzophenone .

What does the Treaty of Hawaii contain?

Coral reefs are complex marine ecosystems with valuable biodiversity that should be preserved.
One alarm bell of their health status is coral bleaching. Some sunscreens, unfortunately, can be the cause of this phenomenon.

What is the Hawaiian Reef Act?

To protect marine environmental heritage, the state of Hawaii passed a law banning the use of two filters in particular:

– Oxybenzone, in addition to having a bleaching effect on coral, can hinder its growth and kill it.
– Octinoxate even in very low concentration causes complete deterioration of coral.

MammaBaby® Line sunscreen formulas do not contain:

– Benzophenones;
– Avobenzone;
– Octocrylene;
– Ethylexyl;
– Methoxycinnamate;
– Nano filters;
– Silicones;
– PEG

Do MammaBaby® Line sunscreens contain microplastics?

No. Plastic pollution in water is one of the major challenges of our time. Olcelli Farmaceutici has long been devoting great attention and commitment to this issue. As part of our business strategy, we pay attention to the quality and long-term ecological impact of our products, and we take responsibility for what we state and communicate. Based on physical and (bio)degradability properties, none of the ingredients in MammaBaby® Line Sunscreens can be classified as microplastics.

We recently noticed that Sole Baby SPF50+ Eco Reef gets poor ratings on the Inci Beauty and Yuka apps. Is this possible? Are Linea MammaBaby® products safe?

Apps for reading INCIs such as Yuka or Inci Beauty have become popular tools for better understanding cosmetic formulations. Despite this, these apps present some discordant information, which we will explain below.
First, they, often, rely on incomplete or outdated data sources, which leads to inaccurate evaluations.
Second, the algorithms in these apps can be unobjective, influenced by commercial interests or developers’ personal preferences, which can skew ingredient evaluations.
Third, these apps tend to generalize information without taking into account the specific concentrations and interactions of ingredients, which are crucial for evaluating their safety and efficacy. In addition, they lack context to differentiate risks based on use scenarios, such as ingestion versus topical application risks.

Another issue is irregular updates that may provide out-of-date information in a rapidly changing field with new research and regulations. In addition, these apps may not take into account different regulatory standards in different countries, potentially misleading users based on their location.
Finally, there is the issue related to conflicts of interest, meaning that some apps may be influenced by sponsors and partnerships, compromising their objectivity and reliability.

In summary, apps for reading INCIs lack objectivity and are not recognized as authoritative sources on product safety. All our cosmetics are approved by the Italian Ministry of Health, which is known to have some of the strictest regulations on cosmetic safety (Salute.gov; EUR-Lex). Linea MammaBaby® products are specifically formulated to protect children’s sensitive skin by adhering to strict European standards. They are dermatologically tested, water-resistant, free of dyes, parabens, silicones, SLES, PEGs and alcohol. They are made in Italy, tested for heavy metals and contain extracts from organic farming.

In particular, our Ecoreef Sole Baby SPF50+ does not contain Oxybenzone, Octinoxate and Octocrylene. Regarding the presence of Phenoxyethanol, the latter functions as a preservative, which is necessary to maintain product stability and prevent premature alterations, so it is necessary (like any other preservative in cosmetic formulations).

Does the Baby Solar Water contain sunscreens?

No, Simoncina’s Baby Solar Water contains no sun filters, it is a spray water for face, body and hair with organic extracts of Chamomile and Witch Hazel with soothing and calming virtues. Suitable for the sensitive and delicate skin of children.
Ideal during sun exposure and at all times when you feel the need to moisturize and refresh the skin, thanks to the moisturizing properties it is an excellent product to prevent skin dryness caused by saltiness.

What are the characteristics of the new Baby Sun SPF 50? What differentiates it from Sole Baby SPF50+?

Pietrino, our SPF 50 Baby Sun, is an emulsion with a pleasantly soft texture and quick absorption, ideal for both body and face. Suitable for sensitive skin of children and adults. Its formula provides broad-spectrum protection from UVB-UVA radiation while offering safe and effective protection from sunburn and sun erythema. Calendola oil extract, in synergy with Shea oil and Aloe extract, strengthens the skin barrier by offering natural prevention from sun-exposed skin damage.
Formulated with Eco Reef filters, specifically designed not to harm the delicate eco-system of the oceans, conforming to the Hawaii Coral Treaty.
Dermatologically tested on sensitive skin, water resistant , dye-free, PEG-free, tested for nickel*, chromium*, cobalt* (*<1 ppm).

The formulation protocol is the same as Sole Baby spf 50+, protects against UVA-UVB rays, is Water Resistant, has the same sun filters and therefore complies with the Hawaii treaty, and is ideal for children and the whole family. The main difference lies in the format and the type of packaging, a convenient and functional spray suitable for short trips and conforming to carry-on luggage, ideal for daily use convenient to carry in your handbag.

Is the Bag On Valve (BOV) dispensing system flammable?

No. The Bag on Valve dispensing system uses air or nitrogen as propellants which makes the products non-flammable and with no adverse effect on the ozone layer.

Is it possible to turn the BOV bottle upside down and still dispense the product?

Certainly, the ability to spray in all positions is one of the major advantages of the Bag on Valve dispensing system. The other advantages are: prolonged efficacy over time with fewer preservatives, more hygienic, and less spray noise.

Do the solariums comply with the Treaty of Hawaii?

Our products comply with the Hawaii Protocol of 2021: we use second-generation sunscreens, specially chosen to be safe and effective in protecting the skin, without harming the marine environment. Do sunscreens contain PFAS?

Our sunscreens do not contain PFAS (ingredients for-and poly-fluoroalkyls), which are often recognizable in the ingredient list by the presence of the word “fluor” (e.g., PTFE or perfluorononyl dimethicone). Generally, the use of PFAS is not usual in the cosmetics industry, and is strongly discouraged by trade associations.
